Angiogenesis is a natural process in the body that involves the growth of new blood vessels. Stem cells can be used to replace damaged cells with healthy ones. Clinical research involves both of these biological therapies for patients with chest pain, angina, peripheral vascular disease and congestive heart failure which are not amenable to treatment with standard therapies.
